9.0 PeopleSoft Financials UAT FAQ's

1Q:  What is UAT?

1A:  User Acceptance Testing (UAT) is the final testing cycle for the PeopleSoft Financials 9.0 Upgrade project.  UAT provides Agency users a chance to work within the newly upgraded 9.0 environment, allowing them to hopefully feel comfortable that the system will function according to specifications and designs upon Go-Live.

2Q:  When will the SAO PeopleSoft Financials 9.0 Upgrade UAT be conducted?

2A:  UAT will be conducted July 15, 2008 through August 14, 2008.

3Q:  Where will the SAO PeopleSoft Financials 9.0 Upgrade UAT be conducted?

3A:  UAT will be held at the State Accounting Office Training Room – West Tower – Room 1616.

4Q:  Will the UAT participants be required to participate full-time during the entire UAT period?

4A:  No, UAT will be conducted in small groups for each module, so all UAT participants are not required to attend each session.  Additional info about UAT and a UAT calendar will be sent out in late June indicating the days and times for each module session.

5Q:  What is a UAT domain?

5A:  A UAT domain is an inventory of all the scripts that will be used for User Acceptance Testing. The UAT domain is a subset of the test scripts used by the Georgia Nine-0 team during its end-to-end business process testing.

6Q:  What should the agencies do with the UAT domain CD?

6A:  Agencies should review the UAT domain on either the CD or the SAO website; the same information is stored in both places to provide alternative sources to access the UAT domain information.    After reviewing the UAT domain, agencies should provide agency specific business scenarios and processes that are not included in the UAT domain, create new scripts and data sheets for the additional scenarios and submit the information to SAO by June 30, 2008.

7Q:  What should the agencies do with the UAT domain that is posted on the SAO website?

7A:  See answer above.

8Q:  What is HP Quality Center?

8A:  HP Quality Center is a state-of-the-art testing tool that SAO purchased to regulate quality testing and processes.  The HP tool will be used to store, execute, track and report testing metrics for UAT test scripts. Quality Center also provides the capability to log defects that are discovered during UAT sessions and tracks the progress of the defects’ resolution. HP Quality Center Training will be provided prior to each UAT session.

9Q:  What is a test script?

9A:  A test script documents the step by step method to execute the test.

10Q:  What is a data sheet?

10A:  A datasheet is a list of data values that are entered in the PeopleSoft application as a user is executing the test scripts. These data values should be specific to each Agency as they represent specific Agency values (PO IDs, Programs, Funds, etc.)  SAO provided data sheets with the scripts included on the CD and the SAO website. The test scripts example template and data sheetexample template is posted on the SAO web site.

11Q:  What should the agencies do with the data sheets?

11A:   To help you understand what data to bring to UAT, you can reference the example data sheet provided with each test script. These data sheets have sample data from other agencies and are an excellent guide to developing your own data for UAT.

To execute the test scripts, each agency will need to bring transactions, chartfield combinations, vendor ids, etc., for their specific Business Unit.

12Q:  What fiscal year will be open for UAT?

12A:  Fiscal Year 2009 will be the only Fiscal Year Open in the UAT database.  Period 1 (July) for FY2009 will be open.   The UAT environment will be a copy of the Production database taken on 05/31/2008 at 6AM. Any data that was in Production on that date will be available in the UAT database. In addition to that data, SAO will be copying the BP2009 budget for each Test Business Unit from production and loading it into the UAT database.

13Q:  What will the UAT participants need to bring to the UAT sessions?

13A:  To execute the test scripts, each agency will need to bring transactions, chartfield combinations, vendor ids, etc., for their specific Business Unit.  To help you understand what data to bring you can reference the example data sheets provided with the test scripts.
